SOLID (Solutions for Information Design, Inc.) is seeking a skilled and mission-aligned Data Scientist to support product development efforts by extracting insights from complex datasets, analyzing workforce and transition trends, redefining business rules, and informing data-driven decision-making. The Data Scientist will shape analytical strategy across workforce solutions, influence internal research and analysis methodologies, and external-facing products.

The role involves working closely with analysts, technologists, subject matter experts, and software developers to evaluate, align, and translate military occupations, credentials, and skills. Responsibilities include developing research and analysis methodologies for skills-based hiring and workforce development, analyzing large datasets to identify patterns and workforce trends, redefining business rules for learner-to-earner pathways, translating analytical findings into actionable insights, designing and maintaining dashboards and visualizations (using Power BI or Tableau), managing complex datasets (SQL, APIs, cloud-based), optimizing SQL queries, contributing to data architecture, applying statistical and predictive modeling (Python or R), and performing exploratory data analysis to guide product and strategy.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship required and eligibility for a Tier 3 (T3) background investigation.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience applying data science to real-world problems, preferably in government, workforce development, military, or education sectors.
- Strong proficiency in Python or R.
- Expertise in efficient, multi-step SQL queries.
- Experience using Power BI and Tableau for dashboards and reporting.
- Familiarity with machine learning techniques such as classification, clustering, and regression.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work independently and drive data initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with military data, credentialing frameworks, skills and competencies, or prior learning assessment methodologies.
- Familiarity with Agile environments and cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of data privacy, security, and governance best practices.
